Quilling, the art of creating images with artfully rolled and curled strips of paper is used here by paper artist Sabeena Karnik to create the alphabet from A to S. Having a bodoh movie marathon with my buddy: who has this amazing ability (like me) to remember lame lines from bodoh movies. So we decided to watch new bodoh movies to get new lines today. We did watch one new movie but we realised quickly that it's the old but gold movies that are THE BEST!

Kick Boxing

I signed up for classes in July but never attended any so I finally went tonight.

I'd learned all the basic moves from BodyCombat: cross, jab, upper cut, elbow, speed ball, roundhouse kick and side kick. It all came back to me! :)

The cool thing is I get to spar with another homo sapien! And we go barefoot throughout the class!

The icing on the cake for me is the fact that I have to (finally) wear hand wraps. I had resisted it for 3.5 years of BodyCombat cos it was only gaya but no mutu. If I don't wear it now, I'll have super sweaty palms and bloody knuckles. Yuck!

It was really good cardio and resistance training. It's been a year since I attended any Les Mills class and I realise I really miss the camaraderie!

PS. My knuckles are red and knees are shaking. Allez iz gud!

Heng Tai Dance

We were given 1 week to practice this dance. It's 1:20 mins long, but since we slowed it down to 50%, it felt like F.O.R.E.V.E.R. We gradually felt confident to dance at 75% but there was no way in hell we could do it at 100%!

On the eve of chip san leong, we practiced for the last time. We didn't want to watch the vids of us for fear of how stupid we looked.

Thanks to Bee Chin, we can now see how awesome we were on the wedding night! Especially Jason Ting!! Woo!!! :)

It all started in July when I returned from my vacation in Hong Kong. I was really looking forward to taking a hot shower after my flight. To my horror, I came home to water dripping from the ceiling of Bath #1. I was mortified!

I contacted the buidling Managers and they turned off the unit's main water supply.

A few days later, I noticed a hole in the ceiling of Bath #2. Upon further inspection by Allan, the culprit was the leaky WC pipe (for the unit above). Uncle Tho used 3M's Rescue Tape as a temporary solution. It's doing a good job thus far!

As the rainy season arrived, it started to leak in my yard onto my washing machine. And then the leak spread to my kitchen!

To make matters worse, in the past week I've noticed leaks in Bedroom #1, Bedroom #2 and the living room (onto my piano chair)! I really am living in the slums with pails all over the place to collect water. Fml.

The root of the problem is the unit above mine, which is undergoing massive renovation. Now that they are waterproofing and tiling the floors, theoretically the leaking should stop. After which, I will be able to repair the leaky pipe in Bath #2 and redo my plaster ceilings. -______-||

Yes, I know the last time I blogged was on 15th July...let me attempt to recap what happened since.

Spent a week in HK. This was my routine every day: Wake up-have Nespresso coffee-eat breakfast-shop-eat lunch-shop-have tea-shop-eat dinner-shop-eat supper-watch TV-sleep.
Had the Amazing Race: Macau, where we did all touristy things in 4 hours!
Put on 2kg and can't lose it till today (all the weight went to my chin, apparently). Wtf.
Caught up with friends, old and new. :)
Started my new job...I used to work at 200 kmph but am at 80 kmph now. Still adapting!
Am managing numerous brands with hundreds of SKUs...I swear that Pharma life is a luxuriously focused one!
Am dating an amazingly loving & romantic man. *heart*
Attended Mei-Mon's wedding...it's by far the most chillaxed and simple wedding. All weddings should be like that and all couples should be as chillaxed as them! :)

The end of a chapter

After 7 years with my first company, today was my last day.

I always imagined my resignation would be filled with a whole lot of emotions (read: crying) on my part. I even had a song ready to help me move on - Leona Lewis' Better In Time.

To my surprise, I've been completely objective & rational throughout the process. It was the people around me who got emotional.

The following was what I felt:

On the day I resigned I was a nervous wreck. I had butterflies in my stomach.
After resigning, I assumed I would get a good night's sleep...I didn't
The week after I resigned was spent consoling the people I upset
Subsequently, every day was like a Friday to me
I couldn't sleep well on the eve of my last day (last night)
Today, I said my goodbyes and did not cry

I encountered 3 distinct reactions to news of me leaving:

Shock/Sadness - Gasp! Why are you leaving? :(
Happiness - Good for you! You'll do great! :)
Anger - You're leaving and you didn't tell me? I had to hear it from someone else!

The 3rd reaction puzzled me most. Wtf.

I've been having non-stop farewell lunches & dinners for the past 2 weeks. It was really nice to catch up. I definitely met a bunch of awesome people here and I hope to meet more awesome people there. :)

So I'm closing this chapter to embark on a new adventure and I'm excited! I'm taking 2 weeks off to recharge my batteries before I join the rat race again.Woo!!

Stan Chart 10km Run

I woke up at 04:30 hrs today for my maiden 10km run. The race started at 07:00 hrs at Jalan Parlimen.

It started drizzling at the start and I didn't bring a Ziploc bag for my phone. Genius!

I saw Kuala Lumpur like I never saw it before:

When I started running, I felt a mild pain above my left ankle. As I continued running the pain spread to the area above my right ankle. And it got more and more painful. I had to stop numerous times to ease the pain. But I kept on running as I was motivated by the signs that told me I was 5km...4km...3km to the finish line.

I have never felt this pain before. It's most likely due to my new shows that don't give much support to the arch of my feet. Wtf.

In the last 3km, it was mind versus pain. I stopped thinking about the pain and concentrated on the beats of the music and rhythm of my steps. Keeping pace with the other runners helped. Seeing and hearing the Cheerleaders cheer us on helped. Seeing the balloons at the finish line REALLY helped.

My time was 1:34:56 hrs (according to my phone), they're sending us our official time in 2 months' time.

All in all, the 10km run wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be. The weather was cloudy throughout and it only got sunny in the last 1km. Awesome!!

I was able to run consistently and I wouldn't have stopped so many times if my legs didn't hurt.

I'd definitely do it again! Thanks for helping me train and for cheering me on, peeps. Thanks Ferry, for Corsten's Countdown!! Appreciate it! :)

How much is too much?

I've been working every weekend since April till today. Let me try to recap where I spent my weekends (in chronological order):

Sime Darby Convention Centre
Penang - I was there from Friday till Sunday & was so busy that I had all my meals in the hotel. And there was only 1 restaurant. Fml.
Kuching - for about 24 hrs only
KL Convention Centre - I had lunch at Kenny Roger's for 2 consecutive days.
Last year I worked 4 consecutive weekends and was on MC for 4 days due to viral fever. This time, I swore to not let that happen again, hence I took 1 week off. During my stay-cation, I refrained from: (1) checking into the airport & (2) checking into another hotel. My uncle and aunt came up to join us in our celebration of my Mom's birthday. For 2 days, my apartment was damn kecoh! My uncle coached me in tennis (and I realised my coach has been pampering me thus far). In that session, he made me practice my forehand, backhand, serve & volley. I surrendered after 1.5 hrs!
Kuching - for about 24 hrs only again
Sime Darby Convention Centre again
KL Convention Centre again
Malacca - never ever go to Malacca (or Penang) during school holidays. I had thoughts of strangling those out-of-towners due to the way they drive.
Westin KL (yesterday & today).

Why the crazy schedule you ask? That's cos all the societies decided to hold their events before the middle of the year, before puasa. And due to the nature of my brand (with it's many indications), I was involved in many congresses.

In the midst of all this madness, I was told that as of 1st July 2011, I would be managing new brands.

It was a bittersweet feeling because I was really looking forward to not having anymore back-to-back events in H2'11 onwards (for my current brands). But for my new brands, there are loads of weekend events till the end of the year.*pengsan*

All this working on weekends has made me feel like I'm perpetually stuck in a Wednesday - the weekend is only 2 days away but I'm not supposed to be looking forward to it because I just "enjoyed" the weekend 2 days ago. Get what I mean?

PS. My training for the Stan Chart KL Marathon (10km Run) is non-existent! I plan to show up on that day and run as far as I can. I know I can complete it...it's just a matter of how long I'll take. Ha!

P.P.S. On 28th May 2011, Peanut passed away in her sleep. She had pneumonia, infection in her cheek, blinded left eye and haematuria. She was 9 months old. Although my family is saddened by her sudden departure, we are comforted by the memories we have of her, which Jac summarised in the sweetest manner: "Peanut was the luckiest and happiest hamster because she lived with the most loving family." :)

PS. The concert didn't rock my world...most likely cos I had loads on my mind (and I still do!). It has been C.R.A.Z.Y. at work and it'll continue to be so till end May. >.<
